Ernst, June
June Ernst, 81, of Center Point, died at Grandview Healthcare, Oelwein, on Thursday, May 9, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call one hour before the service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Allen; children, Vecca Ernst of Farmington and Eric (Denise) Ernst of Coon Rapids; two brothers, Arvene Kinney of Lincoln, Neb., and Ernie Kinney of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren, Matt, Alex, Tyler, Stacey and Sarah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David; and three brothers, Jimmy, George and Lyle Kinney.
June was born May 11, 1931, in Bayard, Neb., to Jeff and Iva Kinney. She married Allen Ernst while in the Air Force on July 7, 1951. June was employed at Nash Finch for over 23 years, retiring in 1993. June was the first female school bus driver for the Cedar Rapids school district.
June loved her flower garden and was never without a pet dog.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
