Beat, Anthony J. 'Tony'
Anthony J. “Tony” Beat, 63, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, peacefully at home with his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Tony was born April 9, 1950, in Quincy, Ill., the son of Victor and Pauline (Gebhards) Beat. He attended school in Iowa City and worked in the community most of his life. He spent many years at United Van Lines and before that did carpentry work in the area. On Aug. 2, 1997, he married Joan Morehouse here in Iowa City.
His family includes his wife and best friend, Joanie; son, Jamey (Mary) Morehouse of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ensley, Brandon Stanley, Noah Paper and Andrew Howard; and siblings, Jeff Beat of California and Martha Kerslake of Lisbon.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents.
Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service have provided cremation services and no public services are planned.
