Woods, Odie R.
Odie R. Woods, 96, of Rock Ridge Care Center, Shellsburg, formerly of 111 Church St., Palo, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness. Private services will take place. Burial: Palo Cemetery. Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Odie is survived by his wife, Jeanette; a son, Michael Scott (Marilyn) of Oelwein; a grandson, Jeffery (Shelley) Woods of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Heidi (Louis) Carlson of Portland, Ore.; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Woods of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Millie Casey
Odie was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Bennington, Okla., the son of Ogie and Della (Lewis) Woods, and married Jeanette Elizabeth Booth on June 6, 1941, in El Reno, Okla. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired in 1982 as vice president of Crandic Railway.
He was a member of Palo United Methodist Church.
Odie loved spending time with his family and fishing.
