Healy, Glenn E.
Glenn E. Healy, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at New Disciples Christian Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Stasia Fine. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, before the service. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; son, Glenn R. (Debbie) Healy of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) McGaffee, Kelly Healy and Daniel Healy; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Caleb, Chance, Mason, Chyar and Caralyn; sisters, Fleur Benjamin of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Yvonne (Delano) Turner of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; brother, Gene (Sherry) Healy of Austin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette Healy; and sister, Thurla Healy.
Born March 26, 1939, in Vinton, Iowa, Glenn was the son of Glenn and Dorothy (Evans) Healy. He married Donna West in Council Bluffs on June 12, 1960. Glenn served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Souvenir Pen for 32 years.
Glenn's special joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other joys were reading, fishing and camping and lively debates.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to St. Luke's ICU for the care given Glenn and to the Rev. Stasia for her attention and the care she gave Glenn and his family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Glenn's memory.
