Smith, Sheridan 'Sherry' L.
Sheridan “Sherry” L. Smith, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at her home. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Christ Church Presbyterian, 2000 First Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; children, Terry Smith, Rich Smith, Robyn Smith and Matt (Andrea) Smith, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Emily, Nick, Jack, Lilly, Claire and Will; brother, Larry (Marsha) Roberts of Marengo; and sister, Karen (Lowell) Martin of Marengo.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Betty (Virgil) Myers.
Born Oct. 16, 1938, in Conroy, Iowa, Sherry was the daughter of Arnold and Mildred (Taylor) Roberts. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1958, worked on her sister's farm and then three years at Rockwell Collins. On Oct. 26, 1963, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Smith at the Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, where she ran an in-home day care.
Sherry had a great life. She enjoyed her church and the children at her day care but her love was her family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in honor of Sherry.
