Burrows, Maylene C. Hupfeld
Maylene C. Hupfeld Burrows, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone, with the Rev. Brad A. Brown of Concordia Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, officiating. Interment will be at the Keystone Cemetery. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Concordia Lutheran Church or St. John Lutheran Church.
Maylene was born June 15, 1945, in Vinton to Clifford and Gladys (Heitman) Hupfeld, and graduated from the Keystone High School in 1962. She later attended AIB in Des Moines for two years.
She was employed as a filing clerk at Dee Electronics in Cedar Rapids before her retirement.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, where she taught Sunday school. Maylene was a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center and the Foster Grandparents Program at Cleveland Elementary School in Cedar Rapids. She was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. Maylene loved her grandson and her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (David) Monson, and her grandson, Gunnar, both of Keystone; her brothers, Gerald Hupfeld of Cedar Rapids and Richard (Judith) Hupfeld of Coralville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
