Walker, Gary
Gary Walker, 60, of Hiawatha, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. A gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a chance to share at noon Saturday, May 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Dan Hoeger.
Survivors include his wife Sandy Walker of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Colby, and granddaughter, Emma, of Cedar Rapids; parents, Orville “Ozzie” and Carol (Ford) Walker of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Scott Walker and Corey Walker, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Kris (Jeff) King of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Justin Walker, Jamie Walker, Nicole Walker, Sam Walker, Stephanie (Joe) Jacobs and Taylor King; and a great-nephew, Tucker Jacobs.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents; and sister-in-law, Janet Walker.
Gary was born Nov. 27, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Ozzie and Carol Walker. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971, and attended Kirkwood Community College for two years, receiving his A.A. degree. In 1992, he married Sandy Hibbert in Cedar Rapids. Gary was employed at Adidas for many years. He loved his granddaughter most of all and also enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and golfing.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
