Berns, Douglas Paul
Douglas Paul Berns, 52, of Woodbury, Minn., formerly of Garnavillo, died Sept. 3, 2013, in Woodbury. Prayer Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo, where visitation begins at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Garnavillo City Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents, L'Dean (Bev) Berns and Sharon Berns Baumgarter; children, Lauren and Ryan; brothers, Dave (Deb) of Atkins, Dwight (Jolene) of Altoona and Dan (Janice) of Garnavillo; sisters, Debra of Sacha, Alaska and Dawn (Bob) Clinton of Guttenberg; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Born May 1, 1961, Douglas graduated from the Garnavillo Junior Senior High School in 1979 and the University of Northern Iowa. He worked as a CPA with several firms.
Doug was a loving father to his children and enjoyed being part of their many activities.
