McBride, Cynthia Sue (Cornish)

Cynthia Sue (Cornish) McBride, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, following complications of a long illness. A memorial celebration for Cynthia will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at the home of Mrs. D Cornish, 1767 P Ave., Marengo, IA 52301.

Cynthia Sue was born in Cedar Rapids on March 26, 1949. She was the third of six children born to Douglas and Ruby Cornish of Cedar Rapids.

She was an avid student. Cynthia completed training as a dental lab technician after high school. While raising her children, she completed certificates of education for water and waste management and teachers assistant at Kirkwood Community College. Cynthia will be remembered by her children and family as very family oriented, fun loving, easy going and giving. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Chad (Jayde) McBride and Andrea (Justin) Miller; mother, Ruby; grandchildren, Gage and Harrison McBride and Arlo and Ivan Miller; her sister, Colette (Michael); brothers, Matthew (Sharon) and Mark Cornish; sister-in-law, Donna Cornish; aunt, LaVaun (Louis) Stramel; uncle Don (Bea) Buchheister; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Douglas; brothers, Brett and Christian Cornish; and grandparents, Dale and Gladys Cornish and Earnest and Rosa Buchheister.
