Charles E. Sherrer, 98, of Oelwein, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April
9, 2015, at the Oelwein Health Care Center. Memorial Mass of the Resurrection: 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, where there will be a rosary service at 4 p.m. and parish Scripture service at 5:30 p.m. Inurnment: Campton Cemetery, Lamont, with military honors by Lawrence Foster American Legion Post 436 of Lamont.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Charles Emmet Sherrer was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Gertrude Sherrer. Charles married Dorothy Irene Dalen on Dec. 27, 1948.
Surviving to honor Charles' memory are his five children, Kathy (Larry) Fettkether, Joseph Sherrer, John (Erlinda) Sherrer, Sue (Ron) Peine and Ann (Mike) Martin; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
