Ruth E. Wagner, 92, of Dyersville, died peacefully Friday, March 6, 2015, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, where a parish vigil service will be at 2 p.m., and an American Legion Auxiliary rosary recited at 4 p.m. Friends may continue to call from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday before the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.
Ruth was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Darlington, Wis., the daughter of George and Ida (Lautz) Pink. She married Richard "Dick" Wagner on May 20, 1944, in Darlington. Ruth was a homemaker who worked with her husband in the milk hauling business, earning her the honor of being one of the first female truck drivers in the state.
She enjoyed golfing, playing cards and being with generations of her family.
Survivors include six sons, Tony (Doris), Greg (Elaine), Bill (Geri) and Mark (Micky), all of Dyersville, Bob (Sandy) of Baraboo, Wis., and Tom (Sandy) of Iowa City; two daughters, Mary Kay (Aaron) Chambers of Winterset and Ann (Marty) Maiers of Iowa City; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rose Ellen Pink of Madison, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Herb Pink, Catherine (Scott) Jordan, George Pink, Mary (Tony) Bautch, Bill (Doris) Pink, Gertrude (Pete) Chambers and Bob (Juanita) Pink; and two sisters-in-law, Virginia and Pauline Wagner.
Memorials are preferred to Beckman High School or Camp Courageous of Iowa.
