MARGARET BONECUTTER
Manchester
Margaret (Ryan) Bonecutter, 100, of Manchester, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the Community Congregational Church in Manchester by the Rev. Kurt Pasko. Visitation will be one hour before the
service at the church.
Private burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery.
Margaret was born Jan. 6, 1914, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Harry J. and Maude C. (Foster) Ryan. Margaret attended college, achieving a bachelor's in English and a master's in library science.
Margaret worked as a high school librarian in Midland, Mich., from 1942 to 1943. In 1944, she was employed by the Civil Service. She worked for the U.S. Navy in Indiana, Tennessee and Hawaii; the U.S. Veterans Administration Hospitals in Downy, Ill., Macon, Ill., and Iowa City; the U.S. Army in Kobe, Japan; the U.S. Air Force in Misawa, Japan, Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam, and Ubon, Thailand. In 1954, Margaret adopted her daughter, Anne in Mach'ida, Japan.
Margaret retired in 1975 and moved to Manchester. In 1986, she was united in marriage to Eugene Bonecutter at the Manchester Congregational Church. Margaret volunteered with grade school students assisting with basic math and reading skills. She was a member of the Manchester Community Congregational Church. She enjoyed sewing, smocking and was an avid
reader.
Margaret is survived by three stepchildren, Loyd Bonecutter of Chicago, John (Jeannie) Bonecutter of Sheridan, Ill., and Mary Bonecutter of Sheridan, Ill.; one granddaughter,
Rebecca (Kevin) Heims of Manchester; five great-grandchildren, Hunter (Kristi) Koth of Aurora, Connor (fiancee Amber) Koth of Garber and Matthew Koth of Manchester; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ben and Andrew Heims; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Brandon Heims; and two nieces, Virginia Grant and Beth Kenyon.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Bonecutter; her
parents, Harry and Maude Ryan; a daughter, Anne Aldrich; a grandson, Thomas M. Besler; and siblings, Vincent Ryan, John Ryan and Alice Grant.
