Ms. Frances B. Scott, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at her home in Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial: Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia, Miss.
Survivors include her son, the Rev. Dr. Walter S. May Jr. of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Fredrick (Dana) Stowers, Kevin Adams, Sean (Mischell) May, Eric May and Darius May; and great-grandchildren, Kamisha Wilson, Jamil Wilson, Jasmine Wilson, Trevor Stowers, Jade Stowers, Tiffany Stowers, Trey Adams, Shawnly May, Latrisha May, Monique May, Abena May, Michael (Andrea) Mateen, Drakkar May, Tayvian May, Golyfe May and Isaiah Holtz.
She was preceded in
death by her husband,
Joseph Scott; siblings, Collis Barnes, Thelma May and Emma Lee Lewis; daughter-in-law, Doris "CJ" May; daughter, Carolyn Wilson; and great-granddaughter, Arionna May.
Frances was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Columbia, Miss., daughter of Shirley and Estella (Fair) Lewis. She worked as a home health care nurse for 20 years.
Frances was a member of First Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church
Women. She enjoyed puzzles, reading and traveling.
