Sheryl D. Bergen, 61, of Davenport, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her home. Memorial services, in testament to her faith and positive spirit, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 6021 Northwest Blvd., Davenport, where her family will greet friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church.
Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting her family with arrangements.
Sheryl was born in 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Dr. Edward and Lois Kopecky. A graduate of Washington High School, she attended both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. On Aug. 10, 1974, she married Ross Bergen in Cedar Rapids.
Sheryl's greatest joys in life centered upon her family. She took great pride in building a home for her husband, children and later, her grandchildren.
In addition to raising her family, she had worked for the Department of the Army, as a florist for the former Eagle Country Market and as a server at the Village Inn and Machine Shed restaurants.
Sheryl enjoyed activities with her children and grandchildren, as well as traveling, gardening, reading and music.
Survivors include her husband, Ross; daughter, Katharine (Nate) Hayes; sons, Ross Andrew (Laura) Bergen, Peter Garrett (Rachel) Bergen and Adam Christopher Bergen; grandchildren, Lillian and Clara Bergen and Jack and Eva Hayes; her mother, Lois N. Kopecky of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Lisa Carr of Colorado, Mary Kopecky of Cedar Rapids and Elizabeth Kopecky of Ames; her brother, Barry Kopecky of Vermont; and father-in-law, Harold Peter Bergen.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Edward Kopecky (1978).
