Dankert, Mildred Jeane

Mildred Jeane Dankert, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. Craig Bex. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred is survived by her children, Connie Lea Stuefen of Covington, Jeffrey Boyd Dankert of Peru, Ill., David Lee Dankert of Cedar Rapids and Suzanne Marie Dankert of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Allen Lee Stuefen and Brian Robert Stuefen; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Her husbands, Marvin and Boyd, preceded her in death.

Mildred was born July 16, 1926, in Iowa City, the daughter of Howard and Marian Jeanette Williams Meeks. She married Marvin Burt on Jan. 3, 1946. He died May 14, 1954. On June 15, 1957, she married Boyd J. Dankert at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mildred worked for Souvenir Pen and Pencil Co. for more than 15 years.

Mildred enjoyed socializing with friends, watching birds as they gathered in her yard, crocheting, watching musicals and most importantly, spending time with her family.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and her friends at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and St. Luke's Hospice for all the care and attention they gave their mother.
