Kermit L. Glass, 90, of Arlington, Iowa, died on Sunday morning, June 8, 2014, at his home in Arlington.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington with the Rev. Paul Fohs officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington, with military graveside rites by Dean-Harkin American Legion Post 219 of Arlington.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Kermit Leroy Glass was born Jan. 30, 1924, east of Arlington, the son of Howard William and Alyia Margaret (Nus) Glass. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. On Dec. 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Mabel D. Opperman at Strawberry Point. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington, and Dean-Harkin American Legion Post 219 of Arlington. Kermit served as director on the Arlington Co-op board and on church council. He enjoyed spending the summers at his trailer on the Mississippi River, wintering in Mission, Texas, dancing and playing cards. Kermit's true passion was farming.
Kermit is survived by his children, Sharon (Allen) Reed of Strawberry Point, Connie (Dean) Puffett of Strawberry Point, Larry (Karen) Glass of Arlington and Judy (Dean) Meisner of Arlington; nine Grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Miller of Idaho, Sandra (Jason) Karst of Wisconsin, Ann (Kurt) Schmitz of Jesup, Douglas (Anne) Puffett of Strawberry Point, Hannah (Rhys) Evans of Strawberry Point, Heather (Dan) McGonegle of Colorado, Cory (fiance, Sydney) Glass of Fayette, Blake (friend, Chloe) Meisner of Waterloo and Andrea Meisner of Arlington; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jack Karst, Samantha, David, Kelli and Tyler Schmitz, Jaren and Kira Evans and Noah Lang; brother, Ronald (Lila Mae) Glass of Fayette; and two sisters, Leonore Stanton of Oregon and Jeanette Lemonidis of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mabel D. Glass on Aug. 27, 2001; brother, Daryl Glass; and a special friend, Genevieve Gusta in 2011.
