Richard "Dick" Gail Langguth, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Evergreen Estates III, following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Craig Peters. Burial: Linwood Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Jeff Bair) Kehe of Marion; two grandsons, Adam Kehe of Cedar Rapids and Chris (Amanda) Kehe of Atlanta, Ga.; and his special friend, Donna Heller of Cedar
Rapids.
His wife, Arlene; son, Dennis; and his sister, Marie Bouquot, preceded Richard in death.
Richard was born May 25, 1923, in Palo, the son of Lauren and Harriet Borst Langguth. He married Arlene Eastman on March 9, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2008. Dick retired in 1982, after 39 years with Iowa Manufacturing Company. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 788 and the Sunrise Optimist Club. He served with the Army 95th Infantry Division in World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Dick was an active member of the Cedar Rapids Jefferson Booster Club since 1971 and was elected a member of the hall of fame for his work. He was well known for his years of
service as the game announcer for the Jefferson High School girls' and boys' basketball games and for managing the No. 1 concession stand at Kingston Stadium. He was active for more than 40 years with the Hawkeye Area Council of Boy Scouts of America.
