Marilyn M. Bunting, 76, of Manchester, died suddenly Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
She was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Anamosa, the daughter of Virgil and Philomene (Corwin) Miller. Marilyn was raised and educated in Martelle. She attended the University of Dubuque, taught at Mar-telle and then returned to complete her B.S. degree in education in 1971. She also received a M.A. degree in education in 1980 at Clarke College.
On July 7, 1957, Marilyn was united in marriage to Clifford Bunting. Two sons were born to this union. Marilyn was an elementary teacher in Martelle, a special education teacher for 25 years at West Delaware and college teacher at the University of Dubuque.
Marilyn was a mentor for staff and students during her teaching career. She retired in 2000 and was a volunteer for several years at West Delaware elementary and middle schools.
Marilyn was active in the First Lutheran Church, being involved with religious education, music and took time to share her faith with others. She also enjoyed studying religion, sewing, gardening and watching movies.
Marilyn was kind, strong, loving and compassionate and will be missed by her husband, Clifford Bunting of Manchester; two sons, Dr. Dean (Cyndy) Bunting of Davenport and Daniel (Lisa) Bunting of Cottage Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren, Seth, Haley, Carlin and Lucas; one brother, Ernest V. Miller of Marion; and brothers-in-law, Donald (Phyllis) Bunting of Martelle and Robert (Evelyn) Bunting of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Katy.
Memorials may be directed to Regional Medical Center or First Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at First Lutheran Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Tony D. Ede officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
