Snethen, Evelyn Minnie
Evelyn Minnie Snethen, 87, of Palo, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following complications of a short illness. Graveside services will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Covington at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a memorial service at Church of Covington at 4:30 p.m., by Pastor Clinton Jeffers. Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Evelyn is survived by her three daughters, Wylma Snethen of Cedar Rapids, Theola Ballard of Independence, Mo., and Sandra (Steve) Townsend of Cambridge; son-in-law, Ronald Edmonds of Palo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Theo; daughter, Avis Edmonds; and brother, James Kelsey.
Evelyn was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Rosella (Mittan) Kelsey. She married Theo Milton Snethen on July 31, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. She spent the majority of her time tending to and taking care of her family.
Evelyn enjoyed her life by spending time warming the hearts of others and offering comfort to them through her special homemade quilts that she artfully crafted herself.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
