Genevieve R. Stoner Runyan, 96, of Walden Place, Iowa City died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Mercy Iowa City. A memorial service will be held this spring in the Bondurant, Iowa, Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.

Genevieve was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Welcome, Minn., the daughter of Frances and Ella Stoner. She spent her early years in Minnesota, moved to Iowa in 1934 and graduated from City High in 1935.
On May 30, 1942, she married Ivan D. Runyan in Las Vegas, Nev. Ivan preceded her in death in 2001.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother of Karen Petersen, Hot Springs Village, Ark., Donald Runyan, Iowa City, Dennis Runyan (Beth), Iowa City and Mary Runyan, Coralville. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Stephen Petersen (Robin Parkinson), Buffalo, N.Y., Michael Petersen, Campbell, Calif., and Kristen Petersen, Campbell, Calif.
Genevieve enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing bridge, working crosswords, crocheting and knitting caps for newborns at Mercy Hospital.
