Hamlett, Patricia Collette
Patricia Collette Hamlett, 85, of Anamosa, formerly of Hiawatha, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelley (Stuart) Adams and Stacey (Randall McElveny) Farley; a sister, Dona Hoot; grandchildren, Jason (Jane) Adams, Christopher (Lauren) Farley and Jennifer (Kent) Werlin; great-grandchildren, Jack and Sylvia Farley; nieces, Molly and Amber Hoot; and beloved extended family members.
Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Terrence E. Hoot; sister, M. Joyce Pigott; nephew, Dirk Kelly; and a niece, Erin Eckenrode.
Patricia was born June 22, 1927, in Colesburg, to Dr. William Earl and Anna Hazel (Strong) Hoot. In 1944, she graduated from Colesburg High School. She served in the Civilian Army Corps during World War II, stationed in Dayton, Ohio. On Oct. 24, 1945, Patricia married Gordon E. Hamlett. The couple lived for many years in Hiawatha. Gordon died July 16, 1979. Patricia worked for Rockwell International for 38 years before her retirement.
