Raymond "Ray" R. Neumeyer, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at his home.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the Murdoch-Linwood
Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, in the
Versailles Cemetery,
Versailles, Mo.
Ray was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Versailles, Mo., the son of Ross C. and Mabel (Goddard) Neumeyer. On Oct. 24, 1942, Ray married Vera L. Rumans in Versailles. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in 1962. Ray drove a Cedar Rapids city bus, then for Missouri Transit Bus and then drove for West Side in Cedar Rapids, from where he retired in 1995. Ray then shuttled cars for Ahrens and Rydell auto dealerships.
Ray was a Cubs fan, enjoyed woodworking, going for a drive and eating out, but loved time with his
family.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Patricia Coghlan of Solon; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren, with another one due in November; and his niece and nephew.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera Neumeyer; two sons, David in infancy and Allan; a brother, John; and a great-great-granddaughter, Layla
Sawyer.
