Lonnie Lee "Toad" Wink, 58, of Oxford Junction, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The family has honored his wishes for cremation. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. A remembrance service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Maquoketa, Iowa.
Lonnie was born March 18, 1956, in Maquoketa, to parents, Richard "Dick" and Alberta (Fowler) Wink. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School with the class of 1974. He was united in marriage to Carol Miller on Oct. 2, 1976, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction. Through the years, Lonnie worked for Coon's Corner, Fullerton Lumber Co., Bahl Lumber Co., Lawson Lumber Co. and Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. He retired in June 2013 from the Midland School District, Oxford Junction, as custodian of the elementary building after 18 years. Lonnie was a longtime member of the Oxford Junction Volunteer Fire Department, until the passing of his father.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Wink; one son, Nicholas (Celeste) Wink of Oxford Junction; and one daughter, Jennifer (Dean) Oltmanns of Onslow; five grandchildren, AJ, Gracie, Hunter, Lauren and Leah; his mother, Alberta Wink of Oxford Junction; two brothers, Steve (D'Anna) Wink of Peosta and Terry (Beth) Wink of Wyoming, Iowa; two sisters, Anita (Lynn) Lasack and Lola (Jim) Lasack, both of Oxford Junction; and many nieces and nephews.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father.
