Robert E. Meyer, 80, of Marion, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private family burial to take place at
Cedar Memorial Park
Cemetery.
He was born in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 23, 1933, to Herman and Frieda Meyer. Bob worked as a manager for Iowa Manufacturing from 1978 until his retirement in 2008, but continued to work full-time for Electric Specialty in Marion, until April 2014.
His favorite pastime was flying and he owned his own plane for many years. Bob was a member of the Iowa Pilot's Association, Cedar Valley Branch and also a member of the United States Pilot's Association.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Lea (Rod) Lemon of Marion; son, Keith (Tina) Meyer of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jesica (John) Sidler and Robert Lemon; and one great-grandchild, Jaden Sidler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
