Harriet Moreland Shriver, 95, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Olin, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Olin Cemetery.
Harriet was born Jan. 3, 1919, to Franklin and Rosetta (Dixon) Fall in Olin,
Iowa. On May 3, 1935, Harriet married Donald C. Moreland in Rock Island, Ill. To this union three children were born and survive her, Ronald (Sandi) Moreland of Lisbon, Dixie Hollingsworth of Olin and Nancy (Ronald) Marlette of Winter Haven, Fla.
Also surviving Harriet are four grandchildren, Tony (Karla) Moreland of Lisbon, Jeff Hollingsworth of Marion, Sheila (Todd) Rouse of Olin and Marc (Elizabeth) Marlette of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Andy (Holly), Brock, Joshua, Larissa, Mackenzie, Ainsley and Matthew and one great-great-grandson, Oden.
Donald passed away July 15, 1976. On Nov. 26, 1977, she married Darrell Shriver in Olin. He passed away June 18, 2005. Those also preceding Harriet in death were her parents, her brother and two sons-in-law.
Harriet's joy and greatest love was her family. She also liked playing bingo, knitting and crocheting. She made all her loved ones afghans so they would feel her love wrapped around them. Harriet will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care Harriet was given the last five years.
