Green, Dale Eugene
Dale Eugene Green, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Cottage Grove Place. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Johns Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a 3:45 p.m. rosary and 5:30 p.m. parish vigil.
Dale was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John W. and Anna (Stusak) Green. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dale was united in marriage to Rita Zmolek on June 15, 1948, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Dale worked for over 25 years for the Cedar Rapids Postal Service, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Dale enjoyed fishing, traveling with Rita, card playing, going to the casino and spending time with his family.
Dale is survived by his children, Roger (Nancy) Green of Woodbury, Minn., Bonita “Bonnie” (Roger) Nyhus of Forest City, Madonna “Donna” (Frank) Sifuentes of Lacey, Wash., and Dan (Jackie) Green of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita; a daughter, Nancy Marie; and a great-grandson, Jaxson.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy.
