Myron "Mike" Richart, 86, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart
following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Private committal services will take place.
Myron, known to family and friends as "Mike," was born Feb. 23, 1928, near Shellsburg, to Allen and Dorothy (Senft) Richart.
During World War II, he served his nation in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge he worked at various occupations; however, most of his working years were spent farming.
He enjoyed hunting, mushrooming and fishing. He loved playing baseball and other sports.
"Mike" truly adored his grandchildren.
On March 30, 1963, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Simnacher at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, of rural Vinton; he is survived by his children, Kristi (Steve) Albright of Grimes, Gena Miller of La Porte City and Tony (Rebeccah) Richart of Vinton; seven grandchildren; his brother, Warren (Mary) Richart of Urbana; his sisters, Patty Peters of Shellsburg and Judy (Keith) Kramer of Urbana; and his aunt, Hazel Senft of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
