Dolores I. Tomash, 87, of Swisher, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow in Anderson Cemetery in Swisher. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Brosh Chapel.
Dolores was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Jerry and Louise (Blahnik) Kosina. She married Frank Tomash on June 12, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed playing the accordion, baking and cooking, traveling and shelling in Florida. Family time was very important to her, especially with the grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a member of New Encounters for many years.
Dolores is survived by her children, Sandy (Jim) Hynek of Swisher, Steve (Sandy) Tomash of Fairfax and Scott (Julie) Tomash of Swisher; seven grandchildren, Curt (Kim) Hynek, Brian (Lisa) Hynek, Kari (Jason) Wachtl, Todd (Melissa) Tomash, Jill (Scott) Radeke, Jennifer (Brandon) Zinser and Jessica Tomash; 12 great-grandchildren, Jesse, Calvin, Coilee, Jeremiah, Treyten, Savannah, Graham, Tanner, Kylie, Kaylee, Landon and Chandler; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Tomash and Audrey Kosina; as well as several cousins.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, who died in 1991; a sister, Marjorie Benesh; and her brother, Bob Kosina.
