Anita Eighmey died Dec. 27, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. A visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids on Friday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; her four children, Nita Randolph of New Orleans, Gayle Reierson (Greg) of Sun Prairie, Wis., Drew (Mary) of Troy, Mich., and Kristie Stevenson (Arnie) of Cedar Rapids; her five grand-children; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grand-children. Her family will miss her quick wit, strong faith and loving heart. She also is survived by her sister, Emily Lourigan of New Jersey. On June 25, 1960, she married her husband, Frank, in Galena, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Freda Engleman; and her siblings, Allan, Shirley and John.
Anita was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Waterloo, Iowa. During her life, Anita worked as an LPN at Mercy Medical Center and a switchboard and computer operator in various industries. She served her church as a choir member, LWMS chapter president and historian, Ladies Guild member, and church secretary.
Anita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
As a faithful member of her church, the family requests donations be made in lieu of flowers to the General Fund of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2900 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
