GLEN STOUWIE Cedar Rapids Glen A. Stouwie, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, in University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, after a brief illness. A visitation will be Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. The Rev. Christopher Podhajsky will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Donna; his sisters, Roberta (Ken) Kerger of Pella and Sharon (Lee) Booth of Pella; a sister-in-law, Diona Carpenter of Cedar Rapids; his nephews and nieces, Jason (Karin) Booth of Chicago, Lynn (Dan) Van Gorp of Pella, Joe (Laura) Booth of Cedar Rapids, Kristina (Eric) Sandbothe of Council Bluffs, Martin (Bridgit) Kerger of Weddington, N.C., Todd Pender and special friend Julie Arnold of Cedar Rapids, Trena Wiederhold of Cedar Rapids and Troy (Robin) Pender of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving are many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Artie (Hols) Stouwie; father and mother-in-law, Rudolph and Blanche Musel; brother-in-law, Stan Carpenter; a nephew, Kurtis Kerger; and Mary Jess, a devoted employee for over 28 years. Glen was born Aug. 17, 1944, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. After high school he attended A.I.B. in Des Moines, worked for Peoples Bank and drove transport for Cronbaugh Transport. He was married to Julie Diers and later divorced but remained friends. He then married Donna Newmire in 1983. Glen followed in his father's footsteps, having a passion for trucks. This led to his lifelong career in the trucking industry starting with his trucks leased to United Buckingham. Glen then started his brokerage representing PIE/Allstates and Ryder/Ranger Truck lines in 1972 and Donna joined him in 1976 and the company became what is now Landstar. Glen was a devoted, admired and established driver. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Eagles Club and American Legion. Glen served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was a devoted family man and cherished time spent with all his family and his Bichon puppy, Missy.
