Maxine A. Offerman, 87, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Ryan, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ryan, by Father Joseph Schneider. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 2, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Inurnment: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Survivors include her children, Nick (Nancy) Offerman of Buffalo, N.Y., Tom (Angie) Offerman of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Karen Pickard) Offerman of Council Bluffs, Kim (Deb) Offerman of Delran, N.J., Abby (Frank) Unertl of Manchester and Scott (Cindy) Offerman of Omaha, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings.
Maxine was born Oct. 3, 1927, in rural Delaware County, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Franks) Young. She married John Dorrance Offerman on Oct. 3, 1947, in Merced, Calif. Together, Maxine and John farmed in Ryan for more than 40 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and loyal friend. Maxine enjoyed ceramics, sewing and crocheting. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ryan.
