Ralph LaCombe Jr., a resident of The Meth-Wick Community, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where there will be a visitation from 9:30 until service time at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Entombment, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura LaCombe of Cedar Rapids; a son, Lee (Kim) of Urbana; granddaughters, Abby LaCombe of Minneapolis and Erin LaCombe of Cedar Rapids; two stepgrandchildren, one nephew, three nieces and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother.
Ralph was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Ralph and Sylvia (Toman) LaCombe Sr. He graduated from Coe College in 1950 and later earned his master's degree from the University of Iowa in 1962. Ralph married Wanita M. Ward on Sept. 17, 1950, in Cedar Rapids. Wanita passed away in 2014.
Ralph was owner-operator of LaCombe Kucera and Associates.
Ralph was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Optimist Club, where he had been past governor, Community Concert Association and Navy Band. He was past president of Tanager Place, member of New Horizons Band, Dixie Notes Plus, an active Coe College alumni, Marion American Legion Post 298 and proudly served in the Navy during World War II.
Ralph enjoyed woodworking, golf, tennis, playing handball and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
