Wayne Arthur Wentzel, 59, of Onalaska, Wis., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis. He was born Aug. 17, 1955, to Arthur and Virginia Wentzel.
Wayne worked for Iowa Steel, Wilson Packing, various construction jobs with his father, and also was a commercial fisherman.
Wayne had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and travel. His favorite past time was watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR.
Wayne is survived by his parents, Arthur and Virginia Wentzel of Cedar Rapids; children, Kristina Wentzel of Clear Water, Fla., and Troy Wentzel of West Salem, Wis.; granddaughter, Grace; siblings, Dawn (Joe) Zamastil of Cedar Rapids, Kim Barger of Cedar Rapids, Lorrie (Keith) Myers of Terre Haute, Ind., and Allen (Lil) Wentzel of Galesville, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Michael (Niki), Chris (Sean), Eric (Tessa), Bric (Lindsay), Whitney (Patrick), Cody and Doug (Steph).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and Mark Barger.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Gundersen Health System, Wayne's care workers over the years, his respiratory nurse of 26 years, the clergy staff at Gundersen Health System, and Gundersen Health System Hospice.
A private service will be at a later date.
Coulee Region Cremation Group in Onalaska, Wis., is assisting the family.
