Mary Gorsh, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mary's honor. Interment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mary Gorsh was born on Jan. 25, 1924, to Edward and Viola (Kurth) Mahan in Williamsburg, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Alvah Eugene Gorsh on Sept. 8, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was a member of CR Grace Church. Mary loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family. Mary will always be remembered for being a loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sue Gorsh, and son-in-law, Gene Clark, both of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Joe Clark of Cedar Rapids, Kelli (Matt) Elliott of Spring Hill, Tenn., Hollie (Hugh) Jackson of Lynchburg, Va., and Kyle (Rebecca) Gorsh of Ankeny, Iowa; and her great-grandchildren, Mayah, Mason, Ivy, Madison, Lucy and McClain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Nancy Clark; a son, James E. Gorsh; six brothers; and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's memory may be directed to Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa, or CR Grace Church, 2905 D Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
