Carolyn K. Sharp, 51, of Norway, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with Certified Celebrant Jim Parton officiating.
Carolyn Kay Sharp was born Aug. 1, 1963, to Kenneth and Carol Gates in Huntington Park, Calif. She was united in marriage to Joseph Sharp on March 1, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nev.
She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed cooking, going to local car shows, and her "Hemi."
Carolyn especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Scooter. She was always willing to help out friends when necessary.
She was very loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband, Joe; son, Chris (Kale Davenport) Gates of Cedar Rapids; her father, Kenneth Gates; brothers, Jeff (Jennifer) Gates of Blairstown and Bill (Laurie) Gates of Watkins; sister-in-law, Pam Gates of Riverside, Calif.; a grandson on the way (Knox Joseph Gates); aunts and uncles, Roger (Dianna) Wiebold, Dick (Cindy) Goldammer and Floyd Gates; nieces and nephews, Ken (Lacey), Jennifer (John), Valarie, Matt (Angie), Katie, Jeff and Lucas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her brother, Dennis Gates.
