Margaret Ellen (Martin) Von Stein, 86, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at her home in Grants Pass, Ore. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 650 240th St. NE, North Liberty, Iowa, on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating.
Margaret was born in West Union, Iowa, to Herbert and Florence Martin on June 13, 1928, and graduated from high school in Clermont. She married Robert Von Stein on Nov. 24, 1949.
She enjoyed travel, painting, reading, pinochle and spending time with family and friends.
She was a charter member of Siskiyou Decorative Artists and a longtime volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center in Grants Pass.
Margaret is survived by her son, Jim, and his wife, Forest, of Grants Pass; her grandson, Alex, and his wife, Rachel, of Tucson, Ariz.; her brother. Jim Martin, and his wife, Ruth, of Yakima, Wash.; her nephews, Steve Martin of Harlowton, Mont., Gordon Martin of Selah, Wash., and Mark Gaeth of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and her niece, Rebecca Pendakur of San Diego, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, Eric; her parents; her brother, William Martin; and sister, Mary Ann Cornwall.
