Daniel B. Hernandez, 57, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at home Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. by the Rev. Steve Orr. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his son, Keith; siblings, Diane (Dirk) Thierer of Carlisle and Paul (Barbara) Hernandez of Austin, Texas; former wife and best friend, Pam Hernandez of Johnston; nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Andrew and Stephanie Thierer, Gabriel and Maia Hernandez, Paula Berg and Missi Preston; several great-nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Dan was born July 22, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Henry "Hank" and Vera (Solis) Hernandez. He graduated from Regis High School in 1975 and the University of Iowa in 1981. Dan worked as a national sales and account manager in the lighting and electrical industries (Phillips and GE), earning many sales awards and accolades. He treasured time with his family, was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed traveling. Dan had a great memory and enjoyed trivia, especially music and movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
