Roger Dean Anderson, 77, formerly of Marengo, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, in Clarion. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Clarion Church of Christ, 420 N. Main St., Clarion, with Pastor Warren Curry officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Friday. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Marengo Cemetery in Marengo. Following burial, lunch will be held at the American Legion Hall in Marengo.
Roger was born on the family farm near Kanawha, Iowa, on Oct. 21, 1937. He worked as maintenance manager at the Pioneer plant in Marengo for almost 30 years. He spent his retirement enjoying his love of engines and beautifully restoring a 1952 WD Allis Chalmers tractor.
Roger is survived by four daughters, Jodi (Paul) Bierschenk of Van Horne, Terri Breitbach of Cedar Rapids, Krista (Rick) Abbott of Howey in the Hills, Fla., and Donna (Steve) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelli, Debbie, Jonathan, Jacob, Katarina and Elizabeth; four sisters, Jean Torgeson of Fort Collins, Colo., Bonnie (Gerald) Sinkler of Nevada, Iowa, Darlene Bierl of Clarion and Karen (Gary) Hobbie of Clarion; and one sister-in-law, Vesta Anderson of Corwith, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June Anderson; and two brothers, Les Anderson of Astoria, Ore., and Duane Anderson of Corwith.
