LaVonne Evelyn Krafka, 86, of Belle Plaine, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015.
LaVonne Junge was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Keystone, Iowa, and graduated from Keystone High School. She was married to Darrell Krafka of Irving, Iowa, for 64 years. They farmed the family farm north of Belle Plaine for over 30 years.
After retiring from farming, Darrell and LaVonne built their earth-sheltered home and pond where they enjoyed the gathering of family and friends creating priceless memories. LaVonne shared a lot of love and was blessed with many friendships through her years of working at the Cottage Consignment Shop, community schools and Harris Flowers, all in Belle Plaine, and volunteering at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. LaVonne was a kind, gentle, gracious lady, pure of heart and loved by many.
LaVonne was predeceased by her husband, Darrell Frank Krafka; her parents, Eldo Junge and Edna Pohlman Junge; stillborn daughter, Faye Marie; and two brothers, Laverne Junge and Duane Junge.
LaVonne is survived by her son, John Darrell Krafka and daughter-in-law Jan Hastings Krafka of Marietta, Ga.; her daughter, Judith Ann Storm and son-in-law Bradley Byron Storm of Elberon; five grandchildren, Vanessa (Nick) Palmer of Belle Plaine, Joel (Hillary) Storm of Pella, Sarah (Jordan) Gross of Minneapolis, Minn., Kyle Krafka of Athens, Ga., and Kaley Krafka of Athens, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Avery LaVonne, Vince Palmer and Liam Storm.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Belle Plaine, where she had been a member for 75 years. Burial will follow at Belle Plaine's Oak Hill Cemetery.
