Jackie "Hot Dog" M. Franks, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in
Hiawatha. Services will be Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Wedding Chapel, 1513 First Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, from noon to 3 p.m.
Survivors include a son, Craig Franks of Kennewick, Wash.; stepdaughter, Paula Steggall and her husband, David Steggall, of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Richard and Ronnie Franks of Cedar Rapids and Jerry Franks of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Franks; and his parents, Thomas and Francis Franks.
He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Navy, Army and Reserves for a total of 22 years. Jack retired from Cryovac.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and golfing.
Jack was known for his storytelling and always had a joke to make you laugh.
He will be greatly missed.
