Ruby A. Elsbury, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at the Belle Plaine Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial
Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruby will be missed beyond words by her family, including her husband of 60 years, Duane Elsbury of Cedar Rapids; four children, Duane Jr. (Wendy) Elsbury of Vining, Virgil (Joyce) Elsbury, Teresa Elsbury of Cedar Rapids and David (Katie) Elsbury of Belle Plaine; four sisters, Gladys Huber and Dorothy Freese, both of Cedar Rapids, Eline Sauers of Alburnett and Elizabeth Rathiel of Paxton, Fla.; brother, Albert Hansen of Quasqueton; 13 grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren; and on the way two great-grand-children set to arrive in February and May.
She was preceded in death by parents, brother, Ronnie Hansen; and sister, Myra Neal.
Ruby Elsbury was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Reuben and Gladys (Pratt) Hansen. She was raised by John and Irene Dobeck. She married Duane Elsbury on Aug. 29, 1954, at the Edgewood Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids.
Ruby was a rock to her family and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was a loving and caring person, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
