Richard L. Craig, 89, a resident of Living Center West died there on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, after a long illness. Private family inurnment at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum Columbarium. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jennifer (Dan) Sparks of Cedar Rapids and Jean Bjorseth of Hiawatha; four grandchildren, Cory (Casie) Sparks, Stacey (Scott) Weiss and Erik (Karen) Bjorseth, all of Hiawatha, and Craig (Lacey) Bjorseth of Cedar Falls; and nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mandy and Matthew Weiss, Skyler and Gunner Sparks and Lucas, Tyler, Evan and Payton Bjorseth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; four siblings; and two sisters-in-law.
Richard was born May 3, 1925, in Shenandoah, the son of Joseph and Veda Craig. He married Alice A. Drexler on Feb. 14, 1955, in Central City. Alice passed away in 2011.
Richard worked at Quaker Oats and retired from there after 42 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren and R.W.D.S.U. Local 110. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the time spent with his beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
