Jeremiah was born Sept. 11, 1991, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Teresa Purdy and Joseph Spivie. He was legally adopted by Craig and Rhonda Purdy in 2004.
Jeremiah graduated from Prairie High School in 2009. He was a fine athlete, playing football and running track, earning awards in both. He attended Kirkwood Community College after graduating from high school and had been employed by Menards and Wiley Touchless Car Wash before finding employment with Crawford Quarry. Jeremiah loved his job at the quarry and was proud of the work he did for them.
Jeremiah enjoyed many different sports, including snowboarding and playing golf. He loved watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and making people laugh. His smile and laughter were infectious, and he lit up a room every time he walked in. He touched the lives of countless people in many different ways, and was recently growing in his Christian faith.
He is survived by his parents, Craig Purdy (Cedar Rapids), Rhonda Purdy (Atkins); his biological father, Joe Spivie and significant other, Michelle Bemer (Cedar Rapids); siblings, KayCee (Shawn) Stickley (Ogden), Ryan, Ciara and Radaea Roquette (Cedar Rapids) and Paul Gilbert (Cedar Rapids). Also surviving are grandparents, Eugene and Darlene Woellert (Cedar Rapids), Dean Gillis (Cedar Rapids) and Charles Purdy (Tacoma, Wash.); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins (special cousins Isaac and Isaiah); and countless friends.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by his birth mother, Teresa Purdy; and his paternal grandmother, Marilyn Gillis.
