Paul L. "Butch" Chesmore, 76, of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A celebration of Paul's life will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 30, 2017, at Chain Lakes Public Area, Chain Lakes Road, Palo. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Chris Welsh, Van Horne, Tawnya (Andy) Eyrich, Erie, Ill., Paulette (Mike) Clark, Homewood, Ill., and David (Melissa) Smith, Cedar Rapids; brother, James (Tracey) Martin, Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, James Martin; a sister; an infant brother; a grandson; and a granddaughter.
Paul was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Paul and Velma Chesmore. He was a lifetime resident of Cedar Rapids and Marion. He married Pat D. Bentley on June 21, 2010, in Marion. Paul was a CB radio enthusiast whose handle was "Flying Bud." He also enjoyed fishing.
