Lanita Jean Hobbs, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017. A memorial service will be held at the Fairfax City Hall Community Room, 300 80th Street Ct., Fairfax, Iowa, on Friday, Dec. 22, from
1:30 to 4:30 p.m. All friends and family are welcome.
Lanita was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Raccoon, Ky., the seventh of eight siblings. She started her career in education, teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, and then worked as a librarian for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joy Hobbs of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and her daughter, Mary (Steve) Huber, and her granddaughters, Madison and Morgan Huber, all of Fairfax, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; all of her siblings; and a daughter, Rebecca Joy Richardson.
She requested no flowers be sent. Cards and condolences may be sent to her husband, Joy Hobbs, 1403 Kodiak Dr. NW, Cedar Rapids IA 52405, and her daughter, Mary Huber, 126 Church St., Fairfax, IA 52228.
