Laurine Kent, 85, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 30, 2016, at Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. A celebration of life will be held at the Village Meat Market, 92 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Laurine Grace Kent, daughter of Oddie and Daisy (Barrett) Clark, was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Springville, Iowa. She was a 1949 graduate of Springville High School. While living in Cedar Rapids, Laurine worked at Rockwell Collins and also as a Realtor. On Oct. 30, 1989, she married Keith Elmer Kent, and they made their home in Oskaloosa. She worked as a home health aide for five years before her retirement.
Laurine and Keith enjoyed their home at Lake Keomah and the fishing, boating and quiet serenity of nature the setting provided. She also delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Laurine's family includes her husband of 27 years, Keith of Oskaloosa; her children and their spouses: Tom Ely (Diane) of Belleville, Ill., Terry Ely (Jennetta Williams) of Cedar Rapids, Kay Ely of Shakopee, Minn., and Tina Carter (Dale) of Lead, S.D.; a stepson, Scott Kent of Chicago; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Neoma Robertson of Martelle.
In addition to her parents, Laurine was preceded in death by a son, Tim Ely; two sisters, Grace Ralston and Leona Crumpler; and a brother, Russell Clark.
As was her wish, Laurine's body has been cremated.
Memorial contributions should be made to Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa on Laurine's behalf.
