Zina, the daughter of Lowell and Emma (Seidel) Graham, was born April 20, 1941, in Chelsea, Iowa. She graduated in 1959 from Belle Plaine High School. On Nov. 15, 1969, she married Charles Gordon at First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. Together the couple lived in Belle Plaine, where Zina was a stay-at-home mom and baby sitter to many other children. Later, she worked as a CNA at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center until 2000, when she received a kidney donation from her son, Mark. The couple moved to West Allis, Wis., in 2011 to live with their daughter, Heather, and her family.
Zina will be remembered for her homemade pies and giving nature. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, going to the casino with her sister, Karen, traveling to Las Vegas to visit her niece, Peggy, and her (almost) weekly telephone calls with her friend, Bev Winkie. Above all, Zina enjoyed her grandkids. She made it a priority to be the best "Meme." She rarely missed a chance to watch them play sports, dance at recitals, play instruments or sing at concerts, and sing songs off-key to them. For many years she was a regular volunteer at Braeden's and Nolen's school.
Zina is survived by her husband, Charles Gordon of West Allis; sons, Mark (Jill) Gordon of Lathrop, Mo., and Nicholas Gordon of Milwaukee, Wis.; daughter, Heather (Darren) Rausch of West Allis; grandchildren, Blake Gordon, Braeden, Nolen and Emmalee Rausch; sister, Karen Graham of Madison, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Janice Walter of Ames and Shirley Shetka of Schaumburg, Ill.; and many more loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wilma Bevins and Roberta Howes; nieces, Terri (Shetka) Koestner and Sheryl Bevins; nephews, David Bevins and Gary Bevins; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Walter and Keith Bevins.
