MARGARET ANN VAN WOERT

Margaret Ann Van Woert, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was born May 1, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Krabacher) Sommer. She went to school at St. Patrick's and graduated from Immaculate Conception, Cedar Rapids. She married Thomas Van Woert Sr. on April 26, 1952, in Cedar Rapids. Margaret worked at People's Bank, Merchant's National Bank and Alcove Restaurant. After retirement, she worked at the Salvation Army warehouse. She loved reading, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. Margaret also enjoyed collecting camel figurines and salt and pepper shakers.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas of Cedar Rapids; children, Chris Rossow and Carol Van Woert, both of Cedar Rapids, Cathy (Gary) Berggren of Marion, Connie Van Woert of Hiawatha, Thomas Van Woert Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Nancy Powell-Bodeen (Johnny Bodeen) of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Chad Rossow, Travis Van Woert, John Berggren, Scott (Elisabeth) Berggren, Corinne (Brandon) Krutzfield, Clara (Randy) Hoff and Mike Powell; and one great-grandson, Owen Berggren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Doug Rossow; grandson, Brian Beltz; brother, George Sommer; and sisters, Marie Pegariek, Barbara Campbell and Henrietta Maher.
