Robert E. "Bob" Kroemer, 78, died Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2017, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden with the Rev. Dan Redhage officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military rites.
Bob was born to Erhard and Alberta Schroeder Kroemer on Sept. 14, 1938, at St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids. He married Marilyn Milota. They later divorced. He married Christine DeJonghe Kintzel on Nov. 28, 1981, in Reno, Nev.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; his children, Richard R. (Terri) of Waukee, Randy L. (Ana) of Titusville, Fla., Bonnie Kintzel of Lowden, Connie (Mike) Buck of Anamosa, Bobby (JoAnn) of Denver, Colo., and Rodney of Clarence; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Nancy) of Lowden and Eugene of Missoula, Mo.; and sisters, Audrey Schreiber of Surprise, Ariz., and Georgianna (Nick) Greiner of Oxford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy and a granddaughter, Erin Buck.
Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, American Legion Post 366 and the AMVETS post 16 of Lowden, where he was past commander of both, and the International Harvester Collectors Club No. 5. He served his country in the Air Force. Bob was a former fire chief for the town of Lowden as well as council member. He enjoyed all of his grandkids' sports and was an avid Cubs fan. Bob was owner/operator of R. E. Kroemer Trucking Inc. and most recently West Side Truck Center in Lowden.
