Irene Esther O'Connor, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Edgewood Cemetery, Edgewood. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Irene was born Sept. 16, 1921, to Charles and Stella (Sprague) Winkler in Edgewood, Iowa. She married Marvin J. O'Connor on July 21, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by her nephew, Phillip Winkler of Cedar Rapids; and two nieces, Margaret Anne (Richard) Katholi and Deborah Jean Winkler, both of Springfield, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, John (Lottie) and Carl (Margaret) Winkler.
Irene was a lifelong Masonic Lodge supporter and an Eastern Star member.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
